Festival d\\\'art sacré d’Antibes
Du 16 janvier au 8 février 2009
The Sacred Art Festival of Antibes celebrates its 18th anniversary this year, and offers a series of concerts from January 16th through February 7th of 2008.
Under the direction of flutist Philippe Depetris and a member of the French Federation of International Music Festivals, this is one of the most important festivals of its genre in the world.
The concerts are performed in the Antibes cathedral, beautifully situated amongst the fortifications of the old town center and next to the Picasso museum. Featuring a choir box made of cut stone from the 7th century which provides beautiful acoustics, the cathedral, offered to the city by Louis XV, is the perfect setting for such artistic and musical expression.
The Sacred Art Festival is typically the first of the season in the Cote d'Azur region. In its 17 years of history, the festival has welcomed some of the largest ensembles and most well known soloists of international fame while also offering a prestigious musical stage to artists and ensembles of the region.
Nearly 45,000 spectators visit the festival every year to take advantage of its quality programming.
