La vie du festival

INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF MUSIC

In 1978, the International Academy of Music in Comminges was founded along with the Comminges Festival.

Thanks to its program, organization, quality of faculty, students, and instruments alike, it has become one of the most important musicology centers for ancient music performance.

The academy will take place this year from July 14th to 27th, 2008, and includes:

- Two organ classes taught by Michel Chapuis and Eric Lebrun

- Two baroque voice classes taught by Guillemette Laurens and Paul Esswood.

A competition is held among the students of the performance classes (organ and voice). The best students will perform at a recital organized during the Comminges Festival.

COMPOSITION COMPETITION FROM JULY 10th TO 12th:

A competition is held for the best composition written for the organ in the St. Bertrand cathedral in Comminges. The piece must be ten minutes in length and take into account the specificities of the organ.

1st prize: € 3000
2nd prize: € 1500
3rd prize: € 750

The prize from the Foundation of Marcelle and Robert de Lacour: € 2000
