Festival international de quatuors à cordes du Lubéron
Du 23 juillet au 14 septembre 2008
Since its debut, the Lubéron International String Quartet Festival has been dedicated to the highest form of chamber music, the string quartet. The festival invites quartets of international renown as well as winners of international competitions. The Lubéron's rural setting provides a calm, inspiring work environment for musicians and a beautiful site for performances.
Concerts take place in venues selected for their adaptability for chamber music and for their acoustics, such as the magnificent Silvacane Abbey built in the 12th Century. Through the years, the Festival has made a name for itself among the audiences and the music world.
This year the Festival will celebrate its 33rd year. Eight quartets are invited, performing a total of 24 concerts. Always attentive to modern music, the Festival easily integrates quartets of composers of our time.
