Festival de Radio France et Montpellier Languedoc Roussillon

Du 14 juillet au 31 juillet 2008

To open this 24th edition, the Festival will host an evening full of surprises on July 14th with, among others, an orchestra of only Stradivarius.
Several lesser known operas: La Esmeralda by Louise Bertin based on a novel by Victor Hugo, Pizzetti's Fedra,
Pergolèse's Salustia staged by J-P Scarpitta and Purcell's King Arthur conducted by H. Niquet and staged by Corinne and Gilles Benizio (alias Shirley & Dino).
Also present: the Orchestre National de France under the direction of Daniele Gatti, the musicians of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Choeur de Radio France in the production of  King David of Honegger, the Orchestre National de Montpellier Languedoc-Roussillon conducted by its future musical director Lawrence Foster, the Orchestre de l’Oural for two concerts, the Latvian Radio Choir, La Cappella de’ Turchini. The Festival will also host many other prestigious musicians, Ciccolini, Zacharias, Repin, Dumay, Kniazev and will close the 2008 season with a stunning evening with the Orchestre National de Montpellier, Natalie Dessay and Jonas Kaufmann conducted by Michael Schønwandt.
