Festival de Musique Ancienne de Ribeauvillé
Du 21 septembre au 26 octobre 2008
Ribeauvillé is located in the heart of the Alsace wine region, snuggled at the foot of rolling green hills where the ruins of three châteaux bear witness to a rich and turmultuous past. During medieval times the town was already musical, as it was the seat for the Confrérie des Ménétriers d’Alsace, or the Brotherhood of Alsatian Fiddlers.
In 1984 a handful of passionate music lovers created the Ribeauvillé Festival of Ancient Music featuring medieval, renaissance and baroque music. The town is also home to an 18th century organ in the St. Gregory church.
