Children's workshops

Each weekend during the music season, Royaumont offers its youngest visitors a cultural discovery program. These workshops are the result of a collaboration between Royaumont and the world-class performers who come to the abbey. Utilizing the richness of the monument itself, the children's workshops, commonly called l'abbaye aux enfants or the 'children's abbey' wishes to broaden children's cultural horizons by giving them opportunities to meet with the musicians and performers in the hope that they will want to learn more.

From September 1st to October 21st, there is a workshop each weekend. A brochure is available upon request at +33 (0)1 34 68 05 50.

Tour of the royal abbey from the 13th century
Founded by St. Louis in 1228 and well-preserved, the abbey is located in the middle of a protected nature preserve. The cloister and refectory are exceptional and the ruins of the church are spectacular. In June of 2007, the medieval garden (opened in 2004) was given a makeover with a new theme: The color of plants, plant colors. A new collection of textile and dye plants were planted for three years (a free guidebook is given to visitors).

The bookshop
At the entrance to the abbey park, the bookshop/boutique is a rich source for more than 4000 titles: art, history and children's books along with novels. This is also a section of books on music and gardening as well as CDs and gift sets related to the programs of the various concerts.
Open every day from 10am to 12:45pm and from 1:45pm to 6pm (on weekends and holidays from 10am to 6pm). Information: +33 (0)1 30 35 59 70

Bar-tea room
The bar-tea room is located in a 13th century room with a water-side terrace. It is open to visitors to the abbey every weekend and holiday beginning at noon, and offers light meals. No reservations are required.
