31st INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF SACRED MUSIC
Over its thirty years of existence, the festival of the Abbey of Sylvanes has developed a reputation as a meeting place of art and religion through music and chants from the various world spiritual traditions. With the 12th century Cistercian abbey situated in the south Aveyron region as the focal point, more than thirty events take place in the summer throughout the region at various historical sites. From July 13th through August 31st, the program of this 31st annual festival, with as theme "Sacred voices - the Soul of the peoples" will include music from the Central European religious repertory (gypsy, Klezmer, Russian), popular vocal and polyphonic music (from Corsica, Occitane, and Italy) without forgetting the major sacred works from the Baroque repertory (Bach, Purcell, Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Gilles).
